ERROR

Error 13 Type Mismatch

SYMPTOMS

The Error 13 Type Mismatch appears when tying to run ‘Broker – Updating & Maintenance’ from the main menu, or when MBUPD.EXE is run from the MBL folder.

CAUSE

A corrupt file within the MBL\TOOLBOX folder causes this error.

RESOLUTION

You can resolve this by going into ‘My Computer’ and then into the drive Mortgage Brain is installed to, for example, ‘C’ and then into the folder called ‘MBL’ and then into the ‘Toolbox’ folder. Once in there look for a file called USERINFO.XML (not the file USERINFO.XSL) and then ‘Right Click’ on the file and select ‘Delete’, it will then ask you if you wish to delete the file, just select ‘Yes’.

Now try accessing ‘Broker – Updating & Maintenance’ from the main menu of Mortgage Brain again and the system should now work fine.

If the above fix does not fix the problem or you have problems doing the above please contact us by email at support@mortgage-brain.co.uk or telephone 0871 384 0200

STATUS

This error only effects a small minority of users and it only happens because 1 file has been corrupted, this is resolved by deleting this file as it will be re-created next time you use the Mortgage Brain Toolbox.

MORE INFORMATION

Sometimes you will not be able to tell which of the USERINFO files is the XML or the XSL file as you may not have your file extensions showing, you can turn your file extensions on by taking the following action:

For Windows ME, 2000, XP, 2003
Go into ‘My Computer’ and then into the drive Mortgage Brain is installed to for example, ‘C’ and then into the folder called ‘MBL’ and then into the ‘Toolbox’ folder. Once in there click on ‘Tools’ at the top and then select ‘Folder Options’ and then select the ‘View’ tab at the top, then if you look through the list it gives you a option called ‘Hide extensions for known file types’ which will probably have a tick in it, if you un-tick the box then click ‘Apply’ and then ‘Ok’. This will then take you back into the TOOLBOX folder and you should be able to see both the USERINFO.XML and the USERINFOR.XSL and you will need to delete the USERINFO.XML.

For Windows NT, 98
Go into ‘My Computer’ and then into the drive Mortgage Brain is installed to for example, ‘C’ and then into the folder called ‘MBL’ and then into the ‘Toolbox’ folder Once in their click on ‘View’ at the top and then select ‘Folder Options’ and then select the ‘View’ tab at the top, then if you look through the list it gives you a option called ‘Hide file extensions for known file types’ which will probably have a tick in it, if you un-tick the box then click ‘Apply’ and then ‘Ok’. This will then take you back into the TOOLBOX folder and you should be able to see both the USERINFO.XML and the USERINFOR.XSL and you will need to delete the USERINFO.XML.
